Ones to Watch at the 2016 Rio Olympics
There’s less than 24 hours to go until the 2016 Olympic Games begin in Rio de Janeiro, with the Brazilian city ready and waiting to welcome more than 10,000 competing athletes for a two-week blitz of elite sporting endeavour. While the achievements of leading Olympians such as Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps have been deservedly well documented, the majority of competitors remain virtually unknown outside of their native land or chosen sport. The beauty of the Olympic Games is that, in a matter of days, a relatively obscure athlete who has painstakingly trained to earn their place at the event can become a global icon.
In the infographic below, Supplement Mart (http://www.supplementmart.com.au/) has taken a leap of faith and pinpointed 10 such competitors who could be poised to make a real name for themselves in Rio in the coming weeks. The likes of Christian Taylor, Dafne Schippers, Katie Ledecky and Jessica Fox might not be all that well known at the moment, but they could soon become household names if they carry their recent winning streaks into the Rio Olympics.
If the Olympic Games have you excited (and more likely than not they do), this infographic will really whet your appetite for the extravaganza that Rio 2016 promises to be.
